Good anti-virus protection is one of the simplest ways to keep your computer safe.

A few general tips that don't change:

• Keep your anti-virus and Windows fully up to date.
• Only run one real-time anti-virus product at a time.
• Be cautious with email attachments and downloads from unfamiliar sites.
• Back up anything important — protection is never 100%.
